Cost to charge a Ford Mustang Mach-E at home
91 kWh usable battery, about 3.4 miles per kWh in real driving (roughly 300 miles of range). Priced at the Ofgem cap of 26.11p per kWh (1 July – 30 September 2026), and on a typical dedicated overnight EV tariff (e.g. a 7p off-peak window).
The Extended Range battery is one of the largest here, so the most expensive to fill — but the per-mile cost stays low.
Cost per full charge, and per mile
- Full charge from empty on an overnight tariff (7p): about £6.
- Full charge at standard-rate electricity (26.11p): about £24.
- Cost per mile: about 2.1p off-peak, 7.7p at standard rate.
- 100 miles: about £2 off-peak, against roughly £14 in a 45mpg petrol car.
- Saving versus petrol on an overnight tariff: about 11.5p every mile.
Home charging on a dedicated overnight tariff is where the running-cost case for an EV is won. Charge the Ford Mustang Mach-E only at standard-rate electricity and it is still cheaper than petrol, but the gap narrows sharply. Lean on public rapid chargers and it can cost as much as petrol or more — which is worth knowing before you buy, not after.
